The Story Behind the Concert
Collaboration
Performing music for music sake is nice... but sharing the love of music in a meaningful way to enhance the lives of both players and audience alike - AMAZING!!
This is what motivated the founder of the Boulder Cello Project to reach out and contact Clark Hodge who had formed Chase the Music. a non-profit organization which facilitates the composition, performance and distribution of original music for critically ill children, or children who were nominated by the collaborating organizations.
After Gemma contacted Clark to discuss their mission/vision over the phone, Clark attended one of the Boulder Cello Project's monthly play-ins, and was introduced to our members. He asked if any of our members knew of a deserving child, and when BCP member, Theresa T., nominated a smart outgoing 13 year old boy with autism for the Chase the Music program, the organizers of the collaborating organizations all agreed it would be a wonderful opportunity to create and perform a concert for this wonderful teenager who loved music!
Chase the Music
Clark found his passion several years ago, when circumstances introduced him to a little girl with leukemia. He wanted to do something special for her, but knew a teddy bear wasn't going to have the meaning needed. He conceived of the concept of having a piece of original music composed and performed for this special little girl.
At the end of the performance of her original composition, the little girl leaned over and said to him, "Clark, I'm never going to stop smiling."
One of his most cherished moments of Clark's life, it inspired him to create Chase the Music to heal and help children in need, while providing a lasting impact for all those involved.

Music is a source of emotional strength for children, helping them cope with their illnesses and often contributing to improved physical well-being.
